Here at Orange County Paint Pros, we offer garage painting services for both floors and doors in an extremely wide variety of colors, styles, and finishes. When the paint job begins to fade on your garage door, or when floor cracks and oil stains get out of control, it’s probably time to call in the pros.
The process is started off with a thorough cleaning of the area, after all objects (cars, bikes, yard equipment, etc.) have been moved out of the way. We ask that our clients move these objects because of the liability that accompanies this kind of work. Our resources do include contractors for the removal of these items, which can be requested during your consultation. Following a quick sweeping, we apply a bleach-water solution to the area to lift off all the stains that will not come off with washing alone. After a scrub and rinse, we let the area dry before covering up cracks with a concrete mortar compound. We occasionally etch (a garage floor cleaning technique utilized with an acidic substance) the floor at this point in the process, but only if floor pores are not already exposed. A simple test of the floor’s pores is then utilized to decide if etching is necessary before allowing the floors to completely dry overnight.
The process is continued the following workday by adding a primer to seal the area, and to ensure the durability and long-lasting quality of our final production. We use a roller to coat the floor, beginning in a back corner and moving out towards the garage door. After drying for 8 hours, we then begin applying the epoxy. Through an exceptionally streamlined process that has developed over years of practice, we provide a double coat of epoxy from a diverse selection of colors and textures. This process usually takes two workdays, having allowed for the 24 hours we wait for drying between coats. Be sure to ask about our warranty and our carefree maintenance program during your consultation to get the most out of your garage door production.
Painting on garage doors is usually done to update the look of the door, or to prevent it from rusting. We have a wide variety of colors, styles, and textures to pick from so you can find exactly the finish you’ve been looking for. The actual painting process begins with washing and power spraying the surface to remove dirt, dust, and debris. This is essential to the preparation process, as lack of proper cleaning can cause problems later in the production. After a thorough sponging with a mild detergent, the door is left to dry for several hours. A primer specifically chosen for the unique environment of Orange County is then applied to help the paint stick to the surface of the door. We typically recommend an acrylic paint to cover the primer, as it is harder to chip in the course of regular usage. We also commonly provide an oil-based exterior alkyd for a hard smooth finish. It should be mentioned, however, that this paint finish is more prone to chipping, and should be handled more delicately than an acrylic paint finish. The first coat of paint is applied on day one, left to dry for 24 hours, and covered with a second coat the following day. It is strongly recommended that you pair this service with our garage floor painting services (if needed), as it can save you time, money, and a headache or two.
